In projects, I am always asked whether we could introduce digitization (synonymous with digital transformation, Industry 4.0, Industrial Internet of Things) in a company. Leading software manufacturers suggest that digitization will be implemented once their software has been introduced. It makes absolutely no difference whether you look at the marketing of providers of enterprise resource planning systems (ERP) or customer relationship management systems (CRM) or whether you look at the marketing of manufacturers of office applications, such as speech recognition systems .

My answer is always the same: “It depends on …!”

It depends on the size of the team provided, the budget and, above all, on the task, whether the digital transformation of the company processes is just possible. It depends on the size of the team provided, the budget and, above all, on the task, whether the digital transformation of the company processes is just possible. Yes, my first project started on January 1st, 1995, a little over 26 years ago.

The motto is “Step by step through digitization to success”. Many companies cannot cope with the Big Bang of digital transformation in terms of personnel or budget. However, the targeted implementation of individual, manageable digitization projects by the company management always led to success. With every project implemented, the successes are more measurable, acceptance among employees increases and the risk of failure is significantly reduced.

This is how I have been implementing digitization projects in medium-sized companies for years – step by step. How exactly, I describe that in my book “Data just think differently! – The Undiscovered Gold of Corporates!’, which will be released towards the end of Q4.2023.
